The eighth book in the series picks up with the desperate situation in Destrotermen India from Book 7, as well as covering some new developments on the Eastern Front in the battle against the Dominion.
I find Marcos’s reaction entirely over-dramatic – and I do not like what this bodes for further characterization of Juan Marcos. More of a popcorn matinee movie that will divert you thoroughly than an Oscar winner. I was saying, “Oh no.
Taylor Anderson’s Destroyermen series is no exception; while he adds a Sci Fi twist to it, everything about this series is historically accurate and correct, sort of.
The first one was better than I expected, so have been continuing the series. The two ships took stogm in what they thought was a storm, but it turned out to be an inter-dimensional rift.
I like the way the “Nurses” were portrayed. It’s all rather tricky, and the captain must maintain a balance of meeting all those various needs while falling in love himself with one of a tiny handful of female navy nurses who were on his destroyer at the time it crossed over. I cannot recommend this series more highly than if I shoved it in your face and told you to read it.
Be careful what you wish for Reddy, who is over his head as a ship commander, is now tasked with raising a culture and industrial base to 20th Century standards, planning a war, or watching the men he loves go down before the tide of Grik that threatens to consume the world. The scray lizrds are sailing around in 18th century sailing ships and the monkeycats speak Latin.
I do not like how the role of the Japanese POW on parole seemed to shrink. And there appear to be dinosaurs grazing on the plains of Bali. So it’s impossible to say, more of this, less of that and you’ll be “okay. Walker and her sister ship, USS Mahanenter a squall and emerge on an alternate Earth where humans never evolved. There were revelations towards the end strom the book but I think the void of information on them worked against the story.
The Japanese were rampaging through those waters, destroying Desyroyermen Bases and defeating the elderly, outgunned and undermanned U.

But the author kept things rolling with some creative twists. In this strange new world the Walker encounters not one but two intelligent species – the peaceful, mammalian Lemurians and the viscious, raptor-like Grik.
Into the Storm may ultimately be a book for fun diversion and is not destroyetmen as anything morebut the book also reveals an active mind at work during its creation; this is the only true trait I demand from authors as a reader.

Into the Storm Author s: We only get to know things from the crew’s perspective, so the lizard baddies are still alien to us at the end of This is a solid first book. I expect this sentiment to surface again sometime later in the series, with greater repercussions than were destrlyermen in this novel, but I shall have to wait and see until I read the other books.
This novel however tells an actual story and draws you in with teh plot and interesting characters. The machinations of the League of Tripoli continue as do the wars against the Grik and the Doms. Although subtle, Into the Storm has a fair bit of foreshadowing.
The oceans too, are well inot with sea monsters previously unknown to the U. Firestorm is book 6 of the series that was released in October The US navy has been in a pitched battle with the Japanese navy and had its collective ass spanked.

I really liked the Forstchen series a lot so the similarties don’t bother me. We don’t experience these things separately we experience them all at the same time in the same way we remember events in our lives. In the one a Roman legion is transported to an alternate world to fight an unholy evil. Walker and the large vessel part after Reddy exchanges waves with what he presumes to be the other vessel’s captain. For the rest, read the book please.
The Grik are bad guys you can happily root against. And they are at war.
