While reading the campaign setting you notice each entry has numerous plot hooks and NPCs, but unlike settings such as the Forgotten Realmseach entry is not a separate item. However, it seems a bit jarring when the artwork is mixed on the same page, as is done several times in the book. The NPCs that are not on the list are absent without a logical reason. They have a pretty neat idea in making kings and high ranking monarchs protected from that stuff, where they basically get spell effects put on them by Gods or something to protect them, but it’s nothing spectacular.


It broke the kingdomms down into six regions and examined each one on a large scale. Rather than separate pantheons for each race, the gods of Kalamar are simply worshipped in different names and preferences by different cultures. Each proper name of any importance within the book is listed with a brief description and a page number. O’Par is a neutral, independent nation that serves as a center of information gathering in the world, and uses this, and its grant of allowing foreign nations to cross its soil in exchange for a tax, to maintain its independence.

The gods of the Kingdoms of Kalamar setting are just that – gods. Next comes a chapter on the languages of the setting.

The clerical domains are missing, although this was quickly rectified with a website addition. The first chapter discusses the humans of Tellene, their warfare and technology, their religion, the climate of Tellene, and a summary of the conventions used when describing cities and towns. The book is thoroughly detailed. On the top of each page is a nice celtic-chain-like pattern that forms the header of the page — sometimes text is placed within that deals with art on the page.
